Liquid Cooling Modules

Liquid cooling is commonly used to cool CPUs as well as other computer components. It usually consists of a CPU liquid block, a liquid pump, and a heat exchanger (mostly a radiator with a fan attached). Liquid cooling allows quieter operation (potentially fanless), or improved processor speeds (over clocking), or a balance of both. Less commonly, GPUs, Northbridges, Southbridges, hard disk drives, memory, voltage regulator modules (VRMs), and even power supplies can be liquid-cooled. For cooling CPU cores its primary advantage is that it's tremendously increased ability to transport heat away from source to a secondary cooling surface allows for large, more optimally designed radiators rather than small, inefficient fins mounted directly on the heat source.
